Like Naming a Child

Coming up with a blog name was a lot harder than I thought it would be. It’s almost like naming a child: you want a name that is just right for your blog/baby; the name is forever (unless you want to go through the hassle of re-branding everything or your baby decides to change his/her name at age 16); and you want the name to be interesting but not so ‘out there’ that no one can spell it or remember it. That’s a lot of pressure.

After multiple brainstorm sessions in my head (and finding out a lot of my ideas were already taken online), I had a full-out, legit brainstorm session (with flip charts and all!) with my friend Jane, hubby Scott and daughter Hadley. We came up with a lot of good ideas, but nothing felt just right. However, I think that session was a necessary step in getting to the ultimate name. A few days later, “Beloved Body” came to me while I was at a work out class – how appropriate is that?!?

The breakdown of Beloved Body:

  • Our bodies deserve to BE LOVED – NOT for how they look but for what they DO for us.  This blog will touch on ways to care for and love our entire body – mind, body and spirit.
  • My name Amy means “beloved.” I’m obsessed with names and have always liked to look at books about baby names/meanings. I’ve known for years that my name means “beloved” and am excited to finally be able to put that knowledge to use.

When I look at my daughter, Hadley, I can’t even imagine her with any other name. I hope that as I continue to write, I will look at Beloved Body and feel the same way.
